At the same time, Virgo is the teacher and with Leo rising, we are dealing with Virgo on or in the 2nd House - so, in the same way that you teach astrology in three minutes on TikTok, Gann was motivated to teach what he knew because it was how he was built and not necessarily for the money.

This is kind of a lot to unpack honestly, but yes he was absolutely doing it for the money. If it were just about being built to teach, he would likely have made his courses more affordable, and not be charging (in today's value) $50,000 for one single course. I can think of another modern day astrologer who charges those kinds of fees, but I won't name names. When traders or financial astrologers charge such exorbitant fees, it gets difficult to suss out if someone is wealthy because they are a good trader, and therefore should be able to command such high fees for their "knowledge", of if they became wealthy peddling their courses and goods. I guess in both instances you would have to compare how much money someone had prior to the start of releasing books and courses.

I don't really consider myself an astrology "teacher". I am still an astrology student. I will always be an astrology student, and I'm not sure I will ever feel comfortable calling myself a teacher in such a vast field, much less charging for it. I call myself a financial astrologer, because that's what I am. I use astrology to make good financial choices, and that is legitimately how I make a living. I wholly refuse to be lumped in with people I consider to be scam artists, and like it or not that's what I have discovered in my research of Gann.

I make TikToks for fun mostly, and I make them lately to try to get people to open their eyes about what we are about to face as a society. I have only made a handful of TT's about astrology, and I certainly don't make any money from them, nor do I currently make money from consultations, book sales or courses. Perhaps one day I will, but I want to prove that my astrological strategies work by making money on the market alone.

My beef isn't that W.D. Gann made money teaching about astrology or finance, my beef is that he has gone down in history as "the greatest trader of all time" and that to this day, a couple who bought the rights to all of his books and courses still make money on his teachings by billing him as the "greatest trader of all time". But he didn't make his money from trading. That's what I am contesting in this article. He was great at writing books, and even better at selling them, but the fortune his family was bequeathed was little more than someone who only ever made money peddling their courses and books.

Dear Beth: Thanks for taking the time to reply. This may be too enormous a question, but do you have ideas on what to look for astrologically for what makes a good trader?
